In 2019, during a weekend trip to the countryside, by chance I came across a Scottish Festival (in Xanten, Germany) and once again heard some pipers and some pipe bands. This time, I was triggered to finally try to learn to play this great instrument.

At first, I tried to learn it all by myself, using a good tutor book. The next step was participating in a course in an adult education center plus a few individual lessons with another piper. Then the Covid pandemic arrived in Germany and all public courses, trainings, meetings were forbidden for quite a long time. So for another two years I learnt and practiced fully all self-taught.

In the middle of 2022 I started taking lessons again, to improve my skills and to get feedback from experienced pipers about which areas I would need the most development.
